The Top Places to Visit in Dallas (2026 Guide)

Dallas is bigger, bolder, and more fun than its reputation suggests. Whether you’ve got a weekend or a week, these are the places that make the trip — the icons, the neighborhoods, and the local favorites worth your time.

## The Icons

**The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza** — The museum inside the former Texas School Book Depository, chronicling the life, death, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. Moving, meticulously done, and the single most-visited attraction in the city. Book timed tickets in advance.

**Reunion Tower** — The glowing ball on the Dallas skyline. Ride up to the GeO-Deck, 470 feet up, for 360-degree views of the whole metroplex. Best at sunset.

**Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden** — 66 acres on the shore of White Rock Lake. The spring blooms and the fall pumpkin village both draw crowds — go on a weekday morning if you can.

**Perot Museum of Nature and Science** — Five floors of hands-on exhibits, from dinosaurs to diamonds to a full earthquake simulator. The best family stop in the city, and genuinely fun for adults too.

**Dallas Museum of Art** — One of the largest art museums in the country, with tens of thousands of works spanning 5,000 years — and general admission is free.

**Dallas Zoo** — 106 acres in Oak Cliff, home to the Giants of the Savanna habitat. A full-day outing if you’ve got kids.

**Dallas World Aquarium** — Part aquarium, part rainforest walk-through in the West End. The shark tunnel and the manatee exhibit are the highlights.

## Sports & Stadiums

**AT&T Stadium** (Arlington) — Even if you’re not a Cowboys fan, the building is staggering — and the guided tours take you onto the field, into the locker rooms, and through the art collection. Book the tour even on non-game days.

**American Airlines Center** — Home of the Mavericks and the Stars, right on the edge of Uptown. Check the schedule — there’s almost always something on.

## Neighborhoods Worth Your Feet

**Deep Ellum** — Dallas’s live-music and mural district. Blues history, street art, late-night food. Come for dinner, stay for the music.

**Bishop Arts District** — The city’s most walkable strip: independent shops, galleries, and some of the best restaurants in town, all in a few charming blocks.

**Klyde Warren Park** — A 5.2-acre park built on a deck over a freeway, connecting Uptown and Downtown. Food trucks, free yoga, concerts, and the best people-watching in the city.

**The Arts District** — The largest contiguous urban arts district in the country. The DMA, Nasher Sculpture Center, Winspear Opera House, and Wyly Theatre are all within walking distance of each other.

## Day Trips

**Fort Worth** (45 min west) — The Stockyards, the Kimbell Art Museum, and a completely different Texas flavor. The Trinity Railway Express runs straight there from downtown Dallas.

## Where to Stay

– **Downtown** — Walk to the Arts District, Reunion Tower, and the aquarium. Best for first-timers.
– **Uptown** — Hotels, restaurants, and nightlife in one polished package.
– **Deep Ellum / East Dallas** — Boutique stays near the music and the murals.

## Practical Tips

– **Best time to visit:** October through December brings the best weather. Spring is beautiful but stormy; summer is brutally hot.
– **Getting around:** Downtown and Uptown are walkable and DART-connected. For everything else, rideshare — Dallas is a driving city.
– **Book ahead:** Sixth Floor Museum, AT&T Stadium tours, and popular restaurants all sell out on weekends.
